IT'S HERE!! It's funky, it's groovy, it's Bruno funk-you-up Mars singing, laughing, and car seat dancing in the passenger side of what has got to be the world's coolestSUV!; and, it's finally here!!
And I have to say, what a success!! (No, really! The video, uploaded last night, has already pulled over 1.8 million views!!) James! You! Seriously, it was everything I was hoping for! Full of stories, laughs, costume changes (dude really can rock any hat!),
Elvis impersonations (still got it, Bruno!), some how-to-dance-like-Bruno tips (yes, please!), and, of course, the singing of (just a few!) of our all-time favorite Bruno hits, including "Grenade", "If I Knew", "Uptown Funk", and even a few of your newest favs, "Versace On The Floor" (Hello!), "Perm" (funk, yeah!), and, naturally, a little "24K Magic"!!
<Whew!> Man, what a ride!! Let's go again! Players only, check out the video below (from The Late Late Show with James Corden's YouTube Channel) and prepare yourself for 15 minutes and 25 seconds of pure happiness!
So, apparently (although I, myself, can’t find out if this
is actually happening or not), Mark
Ronson and Bruno Mars
are facing a possible lawsuit because “Uptown Funk” sounds “similar” to
the nuh-uh-we-totally-did-that-first-Collage Band’s song, “Young Girls”.
According to Pitchfork
(and other sources), the Band’s complaint states that their 1983 (I’ve never
evenheard of it before) single, “Young
Girls” sounds “strikingly similar”
to the Mega-hit “Uptown Funk”
… IF
the two songs are “played in [sic] consecutively”.
This whole thing is ridiculous. REALLY ridiculous!
And I, for one, am getting pretty funking fed up!!
<Drumming fingers impatiently> Let me put this as nicely as I possibly can …
Of course the two
songs sound “strikingly similar”!!!
No argument! (None needed!!) … It’s called a GENRE, you fame-less, envious,
nit-wit, has-beens!!!
… And this particular
genre is (Stay with me now!) called “FUNK”!!
How exactly can YOU claim
– and, better yet, PROVE -that this sound is unique and exclusive
to onlyyou and your song?!
If you don’t know the answer, I’ll tell you … You CAN’T!
Did you invent “Funk”?
Are you its origin?? Did it all begin and end with you and your
song??!
(I think we can all agree that) Thankfully, NO, it did not!!
(See “Ladies Night”
by Kool
& the Gang, from 1979 - four years beforeCollage’s song ever came out, and about 50 or more other examples from the late 70’s
and 80’s with that exact same “Funk” sound!!!)
DONE! Case closed!! The End!!!
If you need any more help, Bruno, just give a call, we’ll be
here!
What up, Hooligans? Did y'all hear? "Uptown Funk" is certified "Diamond" by the RIAA (The Recording Industry Association of America)!
Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk
"Diamond", simply put, is when a Single or an Album has sold 10 million (or more) units. And, as of October 18th, 2016, "Uptown Funk" has done just that! According to Billboard, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars are
"only the 10th act in history to receive the honor."
... AN-N-ND "Uptown Funk" is only the 13th "Diamond song" in RIAA's history!! Pretty impressive guys! And so deserved! If any song should have the distinction of being on that rather exclusive and distinguished list of Diamond Certified Songs, "Uptown Funk" certainly qualifies!!
Well, Hooligans, another year, another July Fourth! Anyone know what this blog's namesake is doing this Fourth of July? Well, me neither! Bruno's been as quiet as a mouse for the whole of the month thus far! That is, if we're not counting that lovely (not!) cryptic Tweet on July 2nd that has the entire Hooligan world asking " 'Just know WHAT??! '" (https://twitter.com/BrunoMars/status/749219817450663938) ... <ahem> ... (sorry!) Please, Bruno, no more encoded tweets, hmm? You're killin' us here! Anyhoo, did you know (betcha didn't) how The Brunz celebrated last year's Independence Day? ... I don't think I could do it justice to simply tell you; I'd have to show you (I've got to, I've got to show you ... get it?) ...
That's right. hooligans! Last year, Bruno was invited to The White House to perform his first ever USO sponsored concert!! IKR?! Is that funking amazing (just the way it is) or what? Needless to say, the night was a complete success! ... Duh!
"What a night", indeed! On performing at the White House, Bruno Commented,
"It was an honor to perform at the Fourth of July concert at the White House. It was incredible to stand with the First Family and the USO to recognize the service and sacrifice of our troops and military families."
Aw, nuts! Well, Hooligans, another year, another Billboard Music Awards. ... No win for Bruno though and, can I just say, not only does that suck (!), but, it's CRAZY as well! The nominations were for "Uptown Funk" ... Hello?! Duh! It should've been a shoo-in!! Like I said, "nuts!" Oh, well. Whatevs! What do they know, anyway? ... <Drumming Fingers> Still bummed, though. On a bright note, apparently, not winning did not stop Bruno from enjoying the festivities! Ever the consummate good sport, Bruno took to twitter and commented on Rihanna's Performance ... (https://twitter.com/BrunoMars)
Bruno also tweeted that night (while still maintaining that classic sense of humor of his) ...(https://twitter.com/BrunoMars)
... And you ain't the only one, Bruno! Well, hooligans, that wraps it up for now. Be sure to keep checking back for more fun facts, stats, stories, quotes, updates and general info … all about Bruno Mars! Also, check out the video below, to see more great PICS of Bruno, courtesy of bruno-mars fanpage 's official YouTube channel!
What up, Hooligans? For those of you keeping up with this blog, you'll remember a few posts back where I commented on the possibility of Bruno Mars being nominated for an Emmy(http://aboutbrunomars.blogspot.com/2016/03/bruno-mars-nominated-for-emmy.html) ... Well, as it turns out, the rumors were true! Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' were indeed nominated for an Emmy at the 43rd Daytime Emmy Awards (which took place on May 1st, 2016) for "Outstanding Musical Performance in A Talk Show/Morning Program"! Nominated, but didn't win. ... <Frustrated Groan!> Seriously?! Ugh! Whatever!! They may not have won, but the nomination is still, obviously, incredible! (So there!) And also so deserved! That particular, nominated performance of the song (on Ellen) was espespecially enjoyable, with the slight change in choreography (in relation to its previous performances) was <ahem> too hot (!) and yet, simply oozed with cool!! Bruno, Mark, and the Hooligans absolutely killed it! "Don't believe me? Just watch!" Check out the video, below, and see for yourself! Courtesy of TheEllenShow 's official YouTube channel!
On April 3rd, 2016, The
3rd iHeartRadio Music Awards took
place at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
The Event was hosted by Jason Derulo.
Taylor Swift and The Weeknd tied for the most Nominations of the night with Seven.
Taylor, of course, took home the most awards with Four.
And this is all very interesting (and all!) but, the most interesting
and coolest part of the night (well, to me anyway!) was that in the category for Best Collaboration, "Uptown
Funk" - Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars WON!!
Whoo, yeah! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
The song was also Nominated for Song of the Year, but, lost
to Adele's "Hello" ... What the funk! C'mon, people! I like Adele as much as the next person but,
"Hello" is (in my opinion) certainly not her best song; and, furthermore,"Uptown Funk" totally kicks it's a$$! … But, hey! Maybe
that's just me.
After the event, Bruno Mars tweeted, "I love you
@IHeartRadio! I love you hooligans! I love you Sriracha. I love
you @LeoDICaprio. Thinking of u @holyfield ... " (https://mobile.twitter.com/BrunoMars?p=s)
Well, hooligans, that wraps it up for now. Be sure to keep checking back for more fun facts, stats, stories, quotes, updates and general info … all about Bruno Mars!
On January, 2015, while on the Ellen show, Bruno announced that he would be disappearing for a while.
Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson on Ellen
He said, "I wanna
start mythird record... I think I'm ready to go back in."
"How long?", Ellen asked, "Like a
year, two years?"
"Until it's
done", answered Bruno. " 'Uptown
Funk'is doing what it's doing
and it's [his3rd album] got to be just as good if not better, right?
Bruno Mars' interview on Ellen
Naturally, following
this announcement, I was completely bummed about Bruno's 'disappearing'; but also, super (freaking!) exited about his
third album!
In any case, there was
nothing to be done at that point, except to wait (Weeell ... "wait" and
listen to "Uptown Funk" over and over! Seriously, I can not get enough of that song!) ... Annnnd wait and wait! ... More
waiting (and checking around every other day) ... MORE waiting … "Is it
here yet?"?!!
Weeks had turned to Months,
and all without so much as one peep about his promised third album, when,
FINALLY, in August 2015, Bruno took to twitter and sent out the simple message
(Okay, okay, so
certainly less than I was hoping for; but hey! I'll take it!!)
Then, some more dreary,
Bruno-less Months passed (4 plus to be exact) with even the New Year coming and
going without a word concerning his new album; and, right around the time
when we, the Fans, had started to wonder "Bruno! Dude! What about your
third album?" (And it's not that we're being impatient, am I right?
... We justcan't wait to hear more of your music, Bruno! …
Nope! Not being impatient at all …), Bruno tweeted on Jan.10th, 2016, "I'm on a mission. I'm Obsessed to make an album I'm genuinely proud of. Stick with me hooligans. I'll get there. Love Brunz"(https://mobile.twitter.com/BrunoMars?max_id=697515182134693887)
(Awww!! So sweet … and
now we were feeling genuinely guilty for being SO impatient! )
Well, we knew it all
along, Bruno! ... Right, guys?
In that same article, it
was revealed thatMark Ronsonhad stopped by the studio (#whaaat!), but there
has been no confirmation (of which, I am aware) thatMarkwill be on Bruno's third album.
In an article bymusictimes.com, Bruno's Dad, Peter
Hernandez, was quoted as
saying, "It [Bruno's third album] was due in March, but by doing theSuper Bowl, it threw him back several months, ... Bruno has seven great new songs - I've heard 'em - but the
album should now be released in September or October, to qualify for next
year'sGrammy Awards." (http://www.musictimes.com/articles/67242/20160309/bruno-mars-new-album-set-release-later-year.htm)
"... next year's
Grammy Awards." (Funk, yeah! Now we cookin' with hot sauce!)!! … Good
one, Peter! I like the
way you think, dude! I like the - way - you - think!!
September or October are mere Months away! Oooo, I'm so excited!! I absolutely cannot wait for Bruno's third album!!!
Now, personally, I haven't been able to find any other source to confirm this yet; but, it would be really cool if it were true! Honestly, in my, albeit biased, opinion, every version of Uptown Funk that Bruno has done so far is (some kind of) award worthy! ...
Bruno Mars performing "Uptown Funk" on SNL!
Here's Bruno performing one of my favorite versions of "Uptown Funk" on The Voice! The man showed up in curlers! What's not to love?!
Bruno Mars is "too hot!"! They really did have to call "the fireman"!
... Duh! And the particular performance in question, the one that he did on Ellen (barring his most recent Super Bowl 50 performance) was his coolest and funkiest yet!
So, here's hoping this exciting rumor turns out to be true; we'll have to wait and see! ... Hopefully not for too long, though ... I mean, "There's only so many songs I can sing to pass the time." "... Ya Feel me doe?"
Gimme your, gimme your, gimme your attention,
Hooligans!
